5 Foods You Can’t Do Without Eating As A Student, If You Went To A Nigerian Government University

Getting into a government university in Nigeria is the beginning of the struggle and surviving in it is a different thing entirely the system is meant for the strong. Being in a government university is very different from being in a private one. One inexplicable thing is that students would eat anything and nothing bad ever happens to them but try eating same after graduation and its one week diarrhea *lol. HERE are 5 popular type of food, anyone who went to a government university in Nigeria ate so well.
Garri: This one has been saving the lives of Nigerians since university education began. Some of them come to school every semester with at least half bag of garri to see them through the semester. Guys are more into the garri thing than girls. Everybody loves garri.
Noddles: Anyone who invented noodles totally had Nigerian students in mind. Hardly a day goes by without noodles in the belly of students.
Beans: Nigerian students and beans are inseparable. Male students feel they love it more than the girls but a trip to one of the female hostels will tell you otherwise. This is either eaten with bread, garri, yam or rice. Bread and garri is the most popular combination.
Concoction: This refers to the kind of rice that can neither be classified as fried nor jollof. It is a combination of anything you can lay your hands upon just to arrive at something edible. this is student fast approach when there has been too much garri  in the belly.
Bread: Nigerian student resort to bread both in good and bad times. It is like the holy grail of university life, something they spice it up with butter, tea, groundnut or soft drink.

Which among these was you favourite?

NEWCASTLE SACK MCCLAREN

The Magpies have won just once in their last six games and with the club stuck in 19th place in the Premier League table, they have decided to relieve the 54-year-old of his duties
Newcastle United have released a statement confirming that Steve McClaren has been sacked as the club's manager.

The former England boss, who took charge at St James' Park back in June 2015, has lasted less than a year in the job with the Magpies struggling in the Premier League and having recorded just one win in their last six matches.

Reports have suggested that Rafael Benitez is ready to take over from the 54-year-old, with the club insisting that they will make an announcement on McClaren's successor in due course.

A club statement read: "After the defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday the club has spent some time considering its position and has today concluded that Steve McClaren's employment with the club will end with immediate effect.

"We acknowledge that reaching this decision has taken a number of days and that this has caused uncertainty for everyone involved, in particular for Steve and the players, for which we apologise. However we felt that this time was necessary to ensure the right decisions were reached with the best interests of the club at heart."

Managing director Lee Charnley added: "I would like to thank Steve personally for his services to Newcastle United. He is a man of integrity and class and he has conducted himself with great dignity during this difficult time.

Most wanted Boko Haram terrorist killed

– The army have killed a wanted Boko Haram terrorist leader

– Other members of his team escaped with gunshot wounds

– Food and ammunition were also recovered by the soldiers

The Nigerian army recorded an important victory in the fight against terrorism as they killed a wanted Boko Haram leader yesterday, March 10.
According to Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, who is the acting director of army public relations, the unnamed terrorist was killed on March 10 after troops of 7 multinational joint task force brigade Quick Response Group (QRG) stationed in Baga and 118 task force battalion staged an ambush along Daban Masara axis.
Other members of his team escaped with gunshot wounds while the leader later died of his wounds while receiving treatment at the military base.

Recovered from the terrorists were 7 Jerri cans of 30 litres containing 210 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), motorcycles and foodstuffs. Firearms and ammunition were also recovered.

Meanwhile, contrary to the position held by the government that no region of the country is being controlled by Boko Haram, a top US general, David Rodriguez has claimed that some parts of the country are still under the control of the insurgency.

6 fatal mistakes that caused Ocholi’s death

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Boboye Oyeyemi, on Monday, March 7 released an interim report on the fatal auto crash that killed the minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi and his wife and son.

Oyeyemi who presented the accident’s road traffic crash investigation interim report to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, March 9, at the meeting of the body at the presidential villa, Abuja, highlighted a combination of errors that resulted in the crash that killed the minister and some members of his family on Sunday, March 6.

Some of the factors that caused the fatal crash according to the report released by the FRSC includes:

1. Over speeding

The FRSC  attributed the main cause of the accident that claimed the life James Ocholi and his wife and son to over speeding.

The FRSC said the driver of the mister was driving too fast and when the Lexus LX570 the minister was travelling sufferd a tyre burst, the driver slammed on his brake so hard and this caused the car to somersault several times, causing death to the minister and his family. The driver of the crashed vehicle was moving at an excess of the stipulated speed when he the  tyre burst occurred which resulted in the fatal crash.

2. Under-inflated tire

The investigation by the FRSC showed also that the minister’s vehicle rear left tyre was under-inflated. This was made known by the driver of the backup vehicle which was accompanying the minister. This was likely the reason for the tyre burst which resulted in the fatal crash.

3. Lack of radio communication between drivers

The unfortunate crash that happened might have been avoided had there been a form of radio communication between the driver of the backup vehicle which was accompanying the minister.

The driver of the backup vehicle had noticed that the minister’s vehicle rear left tyre was under-inflated, but the non-availability of radio communication deprived him of access to the minister’s driver.

4.  The tyres of the minister’s SUV were wrongly fixed

Another crucial finding in the investigating showed that the Dunlop tyres of the SUV were not expired but were wrongly fixed and could have affected its performance the tyres. The FRSC said the DOT number of the tyres were inward which indicates that the orientations of the tyres were not properly fixed and this could adversely affect the performance of the tyres.

5. Failure to use seat belts by the deceased

The failure to use seat belts by the deceased minister and his family members decreased their chances of survival in the crash as in revealed by the FRSC investigation. After the tyre bust, the vehicle which was moving at excess speed reportedly somersaulted several times and resulting in the ejection of the minister and his son from the tumbling vehicle, causing instant death of the minister and his son while his wife died at the hospital.

The investigation showed that the travelling speed of the Lexus LX570 presented unsafe consequences in the event of certain road risk that may have occurred especially if the occupants were not wearing a seat belt as that the occupants of the front seats received less injuries because they made use of their seat belts.

6. The inexperience of the driver

The investigation team gathered that Taiwo James Elegbede, the driver of the minister had no valid driver’s licence as checks by the FRSC showed that the driver’s details were not registered on the FRSC data base as a licensed driver.

Details of the findings also suggest the driver lacked sufficient experience which caused him to enter into a panic after the tyre burst, a situation which resulted to his hard application of brakes and subsequent loss of control that took him into the bush path.

What do you think, would the situation have turned out differently if the above mistakes were avoided?
