Champions League: City hold Madrid

NIGERIA wonderkid, Kelechi Iheanacho could not help Manchester City win the European Champions League first leg semi final match against Real Madrid at the Etihad last night as City held Real Madrid to a goalless draw in a game of few chances.

The visitors were handed a blow before the game with Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out after failing to shake off a thigh strain and Lucas Vazq-uez replaced the Portuguese star.

A cagey first half saw neither goalkeeper troubled although City were forced to make a change with David Silva hobbling off just before half-time and being replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho.

Zinedine Zidane opted to replace the ineffective Karim Benzema for Jese at half-time and the substitute went close on 70 minutes, heading Dani Caravajal’s cross just over the bar.

Real grew stronger as the game wore on, needing Joe Hart to save from Pepe at point-blank range late on as the visitors pressed but ultimately had to settle for a draw.
