I’m the new king of music from Abia – Lil Ashh

Upcoming singer, Elisha Ebube Munoye aka Lil Ashh is one who has his eyes set at the very top of the music industry.

The Abia State-born rapper who delivers his craft in Igbo language and pidgin English believes he’s the new king on the block, and it’s only a matter of time before he is officially crowned.

Lil Ashh started his career at the age of seven, and he has consistently been putting in his best ever since. Speaking on his latest effort, ‘Tell Them Something’ he said,

“I’m looking forward to doing something different now by releasing a rap single; I’m an indigenous rapper…I mix Igbo with pidgin English. ‘Tell Them Something’ is about the glory of my state of origin, which is Abia. I want people to know that it’s a great place that has produced lots of great people, and I’m the new king from Abia State.’

Recalling his incursion into the industry, he reminisced, “I started as a drummer in church, and I usually get inspiration from there. I’ve done songs with some big artistes such as ‘Nwanyi’oma’ with T-Spize and ‘Shoddies’ with Runtown.”

On the notion that rap isn’t a big money-spinner in Nigeria, Lil Ashh said, “A lot of people say rap doesn’t sell in Nigeria, but I’m passionate about it. I also look up to people like Kendrick Lamar. I’m different from the rest, and that’s one unique thing about me. I talk about reality and life experiences to educate people.”

Sharing some of the challenges he’s facing, he quipped, “I’m not signed to any record label for now, so accessing funds is very difficult. Another challenge I have is seeing people who I started with who are now on top. However, people like that motivate me. I really want to go global with my career, and I will not rest till I achieve my aim.”
